Travel Day: Sydney &mdash; Barrington Tops (Special Stop)

&nbsp;

MEETING:&nbsp;Outside Wake Up hostel at 8am or outside Nomads (if confirmed) at 8.10am

&nbsp;

We leave the big city and drive to the Hunter Valley wine area for a tasting at one of the most renowned vineyards in Australia. We&#39;ll then travel across backcountry towards the stunning edge of Barrington Tops National Park (World Heritage Listed). Where we&#39;ll&nbsp;stay in our own private lodge overlooking the Barrington River. You have the option to ride an inner tube down a scenic part of the river or go mountain biking (both additional cost). &nbsp;Enjoy a few drinks and chill in the hot tub in the evening.

SLEEPING: $60 for dinner, dorm bed and breakfast at Twistops Retreat.

Travel Day: Barrington Tops &mdash; Spot X Surf Camp

MEETING:&nbsp;At the lodge

&nbsp;

In the morning, we&#39;ll take&nbsp;a walk and admire natice Aussie&nbsp;scenery and wildlife (kangaroos, various birds and even platypus!). Then we&#39;ll head to&nbsp;a Koala hospital and learn about the importance of&nbsp;preserving&nbsp;Koalas and what we can do to contribute towards conservation. We&#39;ll then continue on&nbsp;to our waterfront accommodation at the Spot X Surf Camp, arriving in the early evening.

SLEEPING: $35 for shared accommodation at Spot X.

Travel Day: Spot X Surf Camp &mdash; River Retreat (Special Stop)

MEETING:&nbsp;At the Loka bus

&nbsp;

We&#39;ll start with&nbsp;a relaxing morning at Spot X. Chill on the beach or take a group surf lesson (additional cost). In the afternoon, we&#39;ll head towards the Solitary Islands Marine Park where we&#39;ll kayak to the River Retreat &ndash; our unique tipi camp, on the edge of the park. Evening activities include: having a few drinks and/or playing volleyball or petanque. We will be sleeping in beds in a tipi or swags under the stars. Note: in winter we have a walk on the headlands crossing a wild kangaroo sanctuary, and we stay in a country pub on the river.&nbsp;

SLEEPING: $60 for camping/dorm bed, dinner and breakfast at River Retreat or Country Pub.

We leave our camp early, hop on the bus and head towards Byron Bay, Australia&rsquo;s famous surf and arts town. We will stop in picturesque Yamba along the way for lunch. There you can have a walk around or a swim in the Angourie Blue Pool. We will have an orientation drive on the way to Byron Bay.&nbsp;

Explore the area, learn to surf, visit the alternative town of Nimbin (additional cost), or just relax in this laid-back, hippie place. &nbsp;We highly recommend you to walk to the lighthouse to see the Australian mainland&rsquo;s easternmost point.&nbsp;

Travel Day: Byron Bay (via Gold Coast &amp; Brisbane) - Noosa or Rainbow Beach

&nbsp;

MEETING:&nbsp;At the main bus stop on Jonson St or Arts Factory hostel (please confirm)

We&#39;ll head to&nbsp;the New South Wales/Queensland border. We will hop out at Danger Point to stretch our legs and check out the view of Snapper Rock, one of Australia&rsquo;s best surfing spots. Next we continue along up towards&nbsp;the Gold Coast. You may want to get off here to experience the sun,&nbsp;sandy beach and entertainment. We will be driving through Brisbane (pick up and drop off travellers in the city centre) to then continue to the beloved holiday destination among Australians:&nbsp;Noosa. Hop off here or continue to Rainbow Beach to spend the night there. Noosa and Rainbow Beach are both departure points for Fraser Island (a backpacker must do). &nbsp;At Rainbow Beach we will have a walk up to Carlo Sand Blow to admire the sunset or the sunrise.

Travel Day: Rainbow Beach (via Noosa) &mdash; Country Campout

 
MEETING: Outside Dingos/Frasers at Rainbow Beach, or outside Nomads at Noosa

&nbsp;

We hop on the bus in Rainbow Beach and head back to Noosa to pick up more Loka travellers. Then we continue our journey towards Cooroy, where we take the train&nbsp;to Rockhampton.&nbsp; 
From there, a local bus takes us to two options:&nbsp;

If you have opted for the farm stay, we&#39;ll take a walk around the property and check out the farm animals. We then head to the little coastal town of Emu Park. In the afternoon, you can just relax at the resort pool, go on a turtle-spotting tour (seasonal), or visit a local crocodile farm (additional cost). We will catch the train in the evening and travel overnight to Airlie Beach &ndash; the gateway to the famous Whitsunday Islands! 
Note: Depending on which day you leave from Noosa/Rainbow you may have an extra day at Emu Park.

SLEEPING: Overnight train (price included), then your choice of Airlie accommodation.

Travel Day: Airlie Beach (via Townsville) &mdash; Magnetic Island

MEETING:&nbsp;Outside Base Backpackers

We start our day early. A local bus takes us to the train. Then we transfer to a ferry and head out to the tropical &lsquo;Maggie Island&rsquo;. A local transfer will take us to our accommodation. There is a lot to explore on the island, it consists of nearly 50% of national park with stunning beaches and abundant wildlife. Your guide will take you on a walk around the island. Alternatively, you can explore on your own or just chill by the pool. Note: Depending on which day you leave, you may have an extra day on Magnetic Island.

SLEEPING: YHA Bungalow Bay or your own choice of Magnetic Island accommodation.

Travel Day: Magnetic Island &mdash; Indigenous Rainforest Experience (Special Stop) / Tully

&nbsp;

MEETING: At YHA Bungalow Bay reception or at the ferry terminal (please confirm).

&nbsp;

A ferry will take us back to the Australian mainland. From there&nbsp;we will travel to Tully by train. Arrival at Tully is planned at around lunch time. You will have the option to stay in Tully at a historic hotel (at hostel prices) or to participate in an exclusive Indigenous Rainforest Experience. Local Aboriginals will be welcoming us. Then a bus will bring us to the mighty rainforest of Tully Gorge National Park. A refreshing swim in the scenic Tully River is possible before having a group dinner (modern food with a traditional twist). &nbsp;After sunset, we will go &lsquo;spotlighting&rsquo; in the rainforest for native wildlife to then share stories around the campfire before bed.

SLEEPING: Indigenous Camp $120 for an all inclusive package ($99 if you book via Loka web app), or Mt Tyson hotel, $35 for accom only. Indigenous Camp is only available TUESDAY / THURSDAY / SATURDAY. On SUNDAYS there&rsquo;s an Aboriginal painting activity instead.&nbsp; Minimum numbers apply for both.

MEET: Indigenous Camp or Tully train station (please confirm).

In the morning, enjoy a big breakfast then head&nbsp;on an interpretative walk into the forest. Learn all about the traditional uses of the plants and wildlife for food, survival and medicine. We will then head back to Tully to take the train north. You may like to spend more time in Tully to do a kayak trip or whitewater rafting. We continue our journey to Cairns by train. There will arrive in the late afternoon. Note: Depending on which day you leave, you may have an extra day or night to spend in Tully at the historic Mt Tyson hotel before going to Cairns.

Note: Accommodation and food are not covered by the Loka pass. You can break your itinerary at any stop and on any travel day. After you can just connect with a later Loka bus or rail departure (guided or unguided). Accommodation can be pre-booked by using the Loka web app, or your guide will help you to book it. 1. The supplier passes are valid for travel in one direction over a route, with each travel sector only being able to be used once.&nbsp;

2. The supplier passes are valid for the person whose name they were originally issued in and are non-transferrable.&nbsp;

3. Passes are valid for up to 12 months from your date of departure. You can hop on and off anywhere at any of the supplier&rsquo;s overnight stops and key activity stops for the total validity of the pass. You have up to 12 months from your date of purchase to start your Loka pass.&nbsp;

4. Cancellation. For open-dated passes or 48 hours outside a confirmed departure date the cancellation fee is 35% of the price paid for the pass. Within 48 hours the fee is 50%, once you have commenced travel it is non-refundable.&nbsp;

5. If you miss your confirmed departure date and/or &lsquo;no show&rsquo; for a sector, this sector is forfeited and you must make your own way to the next destination. Please ensure you check your itinerary and contact Loka 24 hours before a confirmed departure time to cancel or change a travel date.&nbsp;

6. The supplier recommends booking your sectors 24 hours in advance, or at least by 5pm the day prior to departure to guarantee to your seat. In peak periods (e.g. Christmas, New Years, January, Easter, School Holidays) the supplier recommends pre-booking your travel dates if you&rsquo;re short on time to avoid disappointment.) Please note on Christmas Day and New Years Day there will be no Loka departures leaving Sydney or Cairns. Depending on your location, your Loka departure time, arrival time and/or inclusions may be altered on these days. Please visit the the supplier website for up-to-date travel information. Queensland Rail does not operate any departures on Christmas Day. Services that may have left the previous day but arrive at their destination on Christmas Day, may also be cancelled.&nbsp;

7. The supplier will endeavour to stick to its published itineraries, travel days and departure times but sometimes changes or events are beyond our control. We are not liable for any failure to follow published itineraries, travel times and departure days due to weather, traffic delays, train disruptions or any other reason. Please refer to loka.travel for the most up-to-date version of the the supplier timetables, itineraries and pick up places.&nbsp;

8. Because of point #7, the supplier can&rsquo;t and will not be liable for any loss or damage arising either directly or indirectly because of any abandonment of, delay or variation in any trip, however caused.&nbsp;

9. While all care will be taken, the supplier will not be liable for any sickness or injury to any customer or any damage to or loss of property while travelling on a Loka pass, or undertaking a service/activity that the supplier, the supplier&rsquo;s partners, its staff or other supplier travellers recommend.&nbsp;

10. There is no travel insurance cover included in the price of a Loka pass. We strongly recommend that you have insurance to cover cancellation, medical expenses, personal accident, personal baggage, money and public liability. We do not take responsibility for the loss of your personal possessions however caused.&nbsp;

11.The supplier trips are adventurous. Travellers aged 16 or 17 years old can only travel with a signed consent form from a parent or guardian (contact the supplier reservations for form). Travellers aged 12-16 must travel with a parent or guardian.The supplier is not suitable for children aged under 12 years old.&nbsp;

12. If you travel on the supplier, you consent to any images taken of you while travelling on the supplier to be able to be used and distributed in any media, for any purpose, royalty-free. If you have any awesome images of your Loka trip that you would like to share with the supplier, please email them to yo@loka.travel or post them on instagram or facebook #LOKAtravel #travelwithmeaning. By using these hashtags it is assumed that you&rsquo;re giving the supplier your permission to repost your images on our social media sites.&nbsp;

13.The supplier reserves the right to remove any passenger if they believe they are threatening the safety or enjoyment of the other travellers and the supplier guide. Any threats to a guide or customers&rsquo; safety, whether by verbal, physical or inappropriate behaviour may result in the termination of your Loka pass. In this instance, if a Loka driver or guide requires a passenger to leave the trip, there will be no refunds and the customer will be responsible for their own travel costs and arrangements from this point forward.&nbsp;

14. Published prices and inclusions in the supplier brochure are correct at the time of printing, however when a new brochure is printed (as noted by the validity dates) it supersedes all previous brochures/itineraries. The supplier reserves the right to vary any prices, inclusions, routes, overnight stops, departure times and locations without notice. The supplier&nbsp; will do its best to notify other websites/operators of these changes, however the supplier will not be liable for any other operators publishing or promoting outdated information. It is best to check loka.travel or the supplier web app for the most up-to-date prices/products and timetable. Any included or free activities that are included in your Loka pass are non-refundable.&nbsp;

15. Privacy Statement. This is how we protect your privacy when you are dealing with the supplier.&nbsp;

Its website www.loka.travel gives the supplier a chance to collect information about you. Some of this will be able to be identified as about you personally &ndash; much of it will be as part of aggregated information. The supplier wants to keep you happy and your privacy is important to the supplier &ndash; this document outlines where and how the supplier gathers information about you and how the&nbsp; supplier uses it. You have the right to access and correct any information that the supplier holds about you &ndash; if you wish to do this please contact the supplier.&nbsp;

The information we collect:&nbsp;

Personally Identifiable Information. This is provided by you when you register in the supplier system and for services that the supplier offers. This includes registering to book on and off passes you have purchased and to use our mobile website and app and possibly for email newsletters or competitions. The supplier will always need at least your email address but all additional information will always be optional for you to provide. To get the most out of the supplier&rsquo;s system and services you will usually have to provide some personal information.

Aggregated Data. This information is generated by the supplier systems as they track traffic through its sites. This information does not identify you personally and is not linked to the personally identifiable information that you may have provided.

Google shows the supplier ads on sites on the internet and use cookies to serve ads based on a user&#39;s prior visits to our website. Users may opt out of Google&#39;s use of cookies by visiting the Google advertising opt-out page.
